Classy Hometown Wedding | Top of the Market | Dayton, Ohio

Ashley and Matt’s Top of the Market wedding couldn’t have been more perfect. Featuring some of Dayton’s most iconic locations, this classy hometown wedding is sure to stir your heart strings and have you smiling ear to ear. Read their story, and enjoy hearing a little about the inspiration behind their big day.

What is your engagement story? We moved to Columbus right after college and one of my favorite restaurants in Columbus is called Martinis. Matt took me there on 12.13.14. and proposed. He then told me that we had a room at the Renaissance hotel downtown. We drove to the hotel and as we walked in, he had a surprise party waiting for me with all our closest friends and family. It was a total surprise.

What was your inspiration for the aesthetic of your wedding? My inspiration came from my venue, The Top of the Market. It was rustic and I wanted to keep the space monogrammatic. Using gray table clothes with black and white menus and welcome tags and adding a soft blush into the mix was the perfect color scheme for the venue (in my opinion).

What are the special and unique “Must-Have” pieces of your wedding? I loved the place settings at the reception. Pearl chargers and a black and white modern menu with calligrapher welcome cards that said “we’re so glad you’re here”. I love adding personal touches and I wanted every person to feel welcomed. I also loved having our dance floor light. I think it added something unique to the venue. I also loved our band and thought they did an amazing job.

Do you have a favorite story from your wedding day? The whole day was so amazing. I didn’t think I would get emotional but I was an emotional mess. I loved all the speeches and walking down the aisle to Matt was so very special to me. I also loved the first look with my dad because he isn’t an emotional guy but he cried for the first time in years!
